Pomiędzy opozycyjnością a współpracą. Spór o ocenę strategii politycznej środowiska „Tygodnika Powszechnego”

Abstrakt

The aim of the article is to reconstruct the conditionings of the dispute over the evaluation of the political strategy of Tygodnik Powszechny (General Weekly) in the People’s Poland that developed after the publication of Roman Graczyk’s book titled Cena przetrwania? SB wobec Tygodnika Powszechnego (The price of survival? The attitude of the Security Service towards the General Weekly). Presenting the confrontation of the hitherto prevailing interpretation of the history of the Cracow-based newspaper with the reinterpretation proposed by R. Graczyk in the categories of the idea of the interpretative communities developed by Stanley Fish allows recognizing the described dispute as a conflict of memory. It is thus possible to point out relativity of that conflict to the more general debate about the evaluation of the real socialism that is still important for creating the political and party divisions in Poland.
