Journal History
"Studia Politologica" is an academic journal publishing original research articles, reviews, research notes and reports
in political science and public administration, security studies, and social communication and media studies. The journal is published by the Publishing House of the University of the National Education Commission, Krakow, as part of the series Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. The Editorial Office is affiliated with the
Institute of Journalism and International Relations.
The journal continues the previously published Prace Ekonomiczno-Społeczne volumes within the "Roczniki
Naukowo-Dydaktyczne WSP im. KEN" series. It has been published under its current title since 2002. Since 2011,
two issues have been published each year. To date, 35 issues have been published, including special issues.
Aim and Scope
The aim of "Studia Politologica" is to provide a platform for the international exchange of scholarly ideas and to
publish high-quality, original research in political science and public administration, security studies, and social
communication and media studies. The journal is open to a wide range of theoretical and methodological approaches.
Its objective is to disseminate research findings that make a significant contribution to knowledge of contemporary
political, social and media phenomena, with particular emphasis on the European context.
Audience
The journal is intended for a broad readership, including academics, researchers, analysts and students, as well as
public-sector and public-life practitioners - politicians, public officials and journalists - interested in in-depth
reflection on politics and society.
Publication Frequency
"Studia Politologica" is published semi-annually. New issues are released regularly twice a year.
Peer Review Procedure
The peer review process is supervised by editors and members of the Editorial Board whose areas of expertise
correspond to the subject matter of the manuscript. The first stage consists of an internal assessment and the
assignment of the manuscript to the appropriate section of the journal.
At the second stage, the manuscript is reviewed by two external reviewers under a double-blind peer review
procedure. The review takes into account the originality of the research problem, methodology and theses, as well as
the significance of the scholarly contribution to the existing literature.
Open Access Policy
All research articles are published on an open-access basis. Articles are made available under a Creative Commons licence that permits their use, distribution and reproduction in any medium, provided that the original work is properly cited. The Editorial Team believes that such access to research supports education and the global dissemination of knowledge.
Ethical Standards
In order to ensure the quality of the research articles it publishes, the Editorial Team, Section Editors and Scientific Board of "Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. Studia Politologica" seek, at every stage of work on scholarly manuscripts, to respect intellectual property rights, safeguard the integrity of the research presented and comply with the ethical standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). These standards
constitute the final and binding rules governing the review and editorial processing of submitted scholarly
manuscripts.
The Editorial Team, Section Editors and Scientific Board of the journal declare that compliance with these standards
is not influenced by any relationships with the business sector.
The parties involved in the editorial process undertake the following obligations.
Reviewers
Reviewers of all scholarly manuscripts submitted to "Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. Studia
Politologica" undertake to:
1. provide reliable and objective reviews of the manuscripts entrusted to them, in accordance with ethical standards,
while refraining from all forms of non-scholarly criticism;
2. make every effort to enhance the scholarly value of the manuscripts under review;
3. decline to prepare a review if the subject area of the manuscript falls outside their scholarly expertise and/or if a conflict of interest exists between the author and the reviewer;
4. inform the Editorial Team if they identify any breach of ethical standards in a manuscript under review,
including, in particular, plagiarism or self-plagiarism;
5. observe the rules of confidentiality with regard to all information connected with the peer review process.
Authors
Authors of all scholarly manuscripts submitted to "Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. Studia
Politologica" undertake to:
1. declare that all data contained in the submitted manuscript are original and accurate;
2. declare that the submitted manuscript has not been submitted for peer review to another scholarly journal;
3. cooperate with the Editorial Team in the exchange of information required during the peer review and editorial
processing of the submitted manuscript;
4. disclose where the manuscript was previously published if it is, in whole or in part, a reprint;
5. disclose the sources of funding for the research whose results are presented in the submitted manuscript;
6. provide a complete list of the authors of the submitted manuscript;
7. obtain permission to publish any other elements of the manuscript protected by copyright, such as illustrations or photographs;
8. disclose any potential conflict of interest that may arise during the peer review and editorial processing of the
submitted manuscript.
An author's decision to submit a manuscript for publication in "Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis.
Studia Politologica" constitutes the declarations referred to in points 1 and 2 above.
Members of the Editorial Team
Members of the Editorial Team of "Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. Studia Politologica" undertake to:
1. make publication decisions concerning submitted scholarly manuscripts solely on the basis of their scholarly
merit, irrespective of the author's origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, citizenship or worldview;
2. make objective decisions on whether scholarly manuscripts should be accepted for publication and communicate
those decisions to the authors together with the reasons for them;
3. publish the rules governing the peer review of submitted scholarly manuscripts on the journal's website;
4. ensure full anonymity throughout the peer review process and refrain from disclosing the content of reviews to third parties;
5. withdraw from the editorial processing of a scholarly manuscript if a conflict of interest with its author exists;
6. inform authors of all suggested changes to their scholarly manuscripts, except for copy-editing and proofreading corrections.
Anti-Plagiarism Policy
The Editorial Team of "Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. Studia Politologica" makes every effort to maintain the highest ethical standards and prevent unethical publishing practices. An active anti-plagiarism policy is a key element of the journal's commitment to research integrity.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is understood as the misappropriation of authorship or co-authorship of all or part of another person's
work or scholarly publication, as well as of a scientific finding or discovery. It also includes self-plagiarism, meaning the republication of one's own previously published work without appropriate acknowledgement, and the practices known as ghostwriting and guest authorship.
Verification Procedure
All manuscripts submitted to the Editorial Team undergo preliminary screening using the Polish Uniform AntiPlagiarism System (Jednolity System Antyplagiatowy, JSA). This procedure is intended to identify unauthorised
borrowings and ensure the originality of published content.
Procedure in Cases of Suspected Plagiarism
If plagiarism is suspected at any stage of the publication process, the Editorial Team follows the guidelines of the
Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This includes contacting the author to clarify the concerns and, if
misconduct is confirmed, rejecting the manuscript and notifying the relevant bodies, such as the author's affiliated institution.
Article Processing Charges (APCs)
The Editorial Team of "Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. Studia Politologica" confirms that no fees
are charged to authors at any stage of the publication process.
Submission, manuscript processing - including peer review and editorial work - publication, and continued openaccess availability are entirely free of charge for authors.
Copyright and Licensing
Authors publishing in "Studia Politologica" agree to make their articles available under the Creative Commons
Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 3.0 Poland licence (CC BY-NC-ND 3.0 PL).
Authors retain full copyright in their work while granting the journal a non-exclusive licence to publish it for the first time.
The licence permits others to copy and distribute the work for non-commercial purposes, provided that the
authorship and the original publication in this journal are acknowledged and that no derivative works are created.
