The aim of this article is to analyze the shaping of social inequalities in Poland in connection with the introduction of the institution of consumer bankruptcy into the legal order in a historical perspective. Social inequalities are one of the features of the post‑socialist economy and may lead to a number of negative phenomena, such as poverty, social and financial exclusion. In these researches, taken into consideration a broader spectrum of research method, economic, legal and socio‑cultural.
