Social organizations of the aid system in Poland from 1944 to 1989

Abstract

This article concerns the aid activities carried out in Poland in the years 1944–1989 by social organizations. These institutions bring together individuals and groups to achieve the goals set before them, which usually take on a social character. During this period, social welfare was in the hands of the communist authorities, which also affected the activities of the organization, but in their essence, they should not be dependent on the state. The article consists of several parts. The first one is an introduction to considerations. The next part contains a description of the assistance activities of social organizations falling on the period, so‑called “rescue” In the history of Poland, which came with the end of World War II in 1944–1948. The third part consists of reflections on the discussed institutions during period called “stalinism”, that is, In the years 1948–1955. The next section contains a description of the activities of social organizations during the reconstruction of the aid system in the Polish People’s Republic in the years 1956–1989. The fifth part is the ending, which contains the conclusions of the considerations contained in this article. At the end there is a list of literature used for the purpose of the work.
