The biggest problems of the Polish minority Cieszyn Silesia in the eyes of Polish media for the “Głos Ludu” newspapers and the “Zwrot” monthly in 2015–2016
Abstract
The subject of the article are the problems of the Polish minority in the Czech Republic in Zaolzie. The applied analysis of the content of the Polish-language monthly “Zwrot” and Polish-language newspaper “Głos Ludu” published by Polish organizations allowed for the classification of the issues most frequently discussed. The analysis was carried out on the basis of publications issued in 2015 and 2016. Representatives of the surveyed media (journalists, social activists) focus on identity issues related to the shrinking community and its consolidation. Problems affecting this minority presented in the press are related to intergroup relations, intra-group conflicts, financial deficits, articulated ideas and representation issues.Downloads
